Open Minds
We are an alternative provision based at Woodside in Wootton on the Isle of wight. Our site is a working small holding surrounded by acres of beautiful countryside and ancient woodland, we offer a wide range of activities based around the surrounding woodland, countryside and Woodside bay.
We offer children and young people the opportunity for practical work maintaining the land, gardening, The Beewell programme and working with an ever growing variety of animals.
We provide an alternative to the classroom for children/ young adults who may have experienced social/emotional trauma, those with anxiety and who need support with their mental health, those on the Autistic spectrum or those who simply find the classroom environment a challenge.
We specialise in using the outdoor environment to provide positive learning experiences, promote personal growth, resilience and improved self-esteem and develop a connection with nature for children and young people with a diverse range of abilities.
AND INTO THE FOREST I GO, TO LOSE MY MIND AND FIND MY SOUL.
JOHN MUIR
“Cannot praise Becky & her team highly enough! They are experienced, focused, calm, patient, accommodating & passionate about what they do. The difference in my son since starting is quite staggering, it has been wonderful to see his confidence and happiness grow, he has learnt to trust and feel capable again already, he’s a different boy. It’s still early days but he’s definitely suited to outdoor learning, come rain or shine! Thank you so so much for being exactly what he needs”
